Ingredients for Baked Apples in Air Fryer
- Apples: Opt for sweet and crisp varieties such as Gala apples or Fuji for these air fryer apples. Golden Delicious, pink lady apples, and Honey Crisp also offer splendid alternatives. Feel free to peel the apples if desired—I made both peeled and left the skin on and hands down my entire family loved the peeled apples better
- Ground Cinnamon: A light initial coating for cooking, followed by an additional sprinkle to combine with sugar at the end. Cinnamon and sugar unquestionably steal the spotlight in this recipe, giving the apples the sweetness and gooey deliciousness.
- Oil: Any mild-flavored cooking oil will suffice. Avoid oil spray as it may not yield optimal results in air fryers; instead, embrace canola oil for these apples.
- Vanilla: A subtle but necessary addition for an enhanced flavor experience.
- Butter: A necessary ingredient making these air-fried apples have the flavor of fried apples. It doesn’t take a ton of butter to create this amazing flavor.
- Sugar: Sweeten to taste, adjusting to your preferred level of sweetness. A dash of sugar complements this recipe, although maple syrup or even a hint of brown sugar stand as delightful alternatives.
- Whipped cream: My family loves topping the apples with whipped cream.
Instructions for Air Fryer Baked Apples
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees F for 5 minutes.
Using a pairing knife, cut off the skin of your favorite apples. You can leave it on if you prefer. Use an apple corer to remove the core and cut your whole apples into 1/2″ strips.
You want to wait to cut your apples until you are ready to make them to prevent your apples from browning.
Toss your apple slices with your oil, cinnamon and vanilla. I told you it was such an easy recipe.
Next, layer them in a single row in your air fryer basket. I did use a cooking spray to spray my basket to make sure they didn’t stick.
Cook your apples for 10 minutes, making sure you shake your apples at about the 5-minute mark. I would check your apples around 8 minutes because we all know that some air fryer take less time.
They should be softer apples, and you should be able to easily cut through them with a spoon or fork
When your apples are done, transfer to a medium bowl or baking dish and toss with your butter and leftover cinnamon/sugar ingredients. They are best served immediately
Storage: Extra apples can be stored in an airtight container. You can even freeze them for up to 2 months and simply defrost and reheat this baked apple recipe.
Notes:
You can use a variety of apple. Choose your favorite apples available in the fall season in your area. The type of apple you use is totally based upon your own preference.
Cut your apples once you are ready to bake. Apples are notorious for turning brown, so you will want to cut your apples with your paring knife right before you place them in your air fryer basket.
Add more sweetness by adding a little butter and more cinnamon and sugar, or you could even add some caramel sauce. To make it into an apple crisp, you can add an oat mixture to give it a little crunch to the top of the apples. Simple ingredients that make easy baked apples.
Watch your apples as they cook. The texture should be that like apple pie filling, and they can easily burn so make sure and turn halfway through the cooking and at about 8 minutes, check your apples recipe every 2 minutes until it gets to the softness you desire.
